Which birds can be seen on Kaltehofe?

All birds on the island of Kaltehofe and the surrounding areas are wild animals so there is no guarantee to see certain species. However it is quite likely to spot oystercatcher, common shelduck, grey heron, cormorant, little grebe, great crested grebe, Eurasian coot as well as different kind of ducks and geese. The island is home to many singing birds which may be seen. Swifts often fill the air in June and show off their flying skills. If you have your binoculars - or even better a spotting scope - with you, check out the mud flats of nearby Holzhafen for wading birds. During summer the water basins of Wasserkunst Elbinsel Kaltehofe are also ideal places to listen to the chorus of frogs.
